Experienced florists teach design basics to beginner botanists, who create original arrangements to take home each week
Floral arrangement is one of the best ways to express emotion nonverbally, second only to interpretive kickboxing. Say what words never will with today's Groupon: for $35, you get three basic flower-arranging classes at Field of Flowers, valid at locations in Davie, Boca Raton, and South Miami Dade (a $75 value). Classes are held once weekly for three weeks, and are available in English at all locations, and in Spanish at the Davie and South Miami Dade location. Students must bring a cutting tool.
Field of Flowers’ seasoned florists rain knowledge upon blossoming botanists during small-group floral-arrangement classes. During one-hour sessions, green gurus lead 6–12 students through the process of creating their own original arrangement. Green thumbs become fully hued as instructors teach the basics of color patterns, balance, design, and persuading feuding roses to sit side by side. Each week, attendees leave class sporting their own original floral creation, ready to take home and brighten up a drab domicile. All flowers and most supplies are included, though students must bring their own shears, knife, or keenly sharpened wit to each class ($12.70 for purchase). For extra study outside of the sessions, the shop’s website helps customers care for their blooms by fielding questions on cutting stems, watering flowers, and waking snoring leaves. Check the online schedule for class times.

About Field of Flowers
Field of Flowers' founder, Donn F. Flipse, didn't know it then, but he began a life of selling flowers back when he was a mere eight years old. He started off by sweeping up the fallen petals at his family's flower shop. Over time, he moved up in rank, delivering arrangements to their destination as soon as he got his license. After graduating college, he almost turned his back on the family business, but after mentoring under one of the shop's floral designers, he realized it was in his blood.
After this realization, he couldn't help but open his own shop—Field of Flowers. The business has serviced forlorn husbands and caring family memebers with one of the largest selections of fresh-cut flowers, plants, and floral and plant arrangements in South Florida since 1990. Each location even features a FlowerBar, which hosts basic, intermediate, and advanced sessions with step-by-step instruction for those who wish to craft their own floral designs.
