Q:

I would like to buy several of these as "gifts" with different names on them. There seems to be only a way to enter a name, then purchase. I would prefer not to make 5 different purchases on my credit card. Is there a way to do multiple gifts and one purchase on my credit card?

Deb W.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

I'm sorry, but at this time you need to make separate purchases in order to place a recipient's name on the Groupon. If you purchase the Groupons in one order, it will have your name on it, but you can still give these away as gifts.

Q:

I see that Groupon is allowing us to purchase up to 2 for ourselves and 3 more as gifts. Are you allowed to put more than one Groupon towards a specific project--like could I put both of my purchased GPons--meaning $100--towards one project? I know there are many worthy projects out there but I have a specific teacher's project in mind and this will help me decide if I also want to purchase some gifts. Thanks!

Melissa P.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Great question Melissa - you can certainly apply 2 codes on the same project! You'll have to enter the codes one at at time, but then you'll be set on helping make a teacher's wish for his/her class come true!

Q:

It was said above that the Groupon can be used in a state that isn't on the preferred state list, but will Chase still match a gift given to a state that isn't on that list?

Stephanie F.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Hi Stephanie! Chase is providing a generous donation of $500K to provide the 400% match on all the Groupons sold. You would make them super happy by using it to fund a project in one of their target areas but you're welcome to apply it on projects in other areas after redeeming your code.

Q:

It is not accepting my code from Groupon in DonorsChoose.org redeem Code. What do I do?

Rita W.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Hi Rita! Thanks for purchasing :) Your code should be ready for redemption tomorrow. You can go to http://www.donorschoose.org/groupon and enter your redemption code, along with selecting one of the participating states. If you're still experiencing problems, please visit our Help Desk section to submit your inquiry and our friendly team will be happy to troubleshoot!

Q:

If I am buying this as a gift, in the space where it asks for "donor's full name" do I write my name or do I write the name of the person I am giving this to?

Laura H.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Hi Laura! You can enter your name in the "donor's full name" section and enter the name of the gift recipient in the "give as gift" section. We need your full name in case you need a tax receipt as the purchaser.

Q:

Hi.... I purchased several of the groupons before realizing that the projects I wanted to support are not in one of the listed states. Will I be able to put the groupons towards a school in NC? Thanks!

Susan H.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Chase raised $500K from select areas and would love to channel these funds back to these communities. For this reason they are strongly encouraging Groupon redemptions in the states mentioned. After entering your gift code and selecting one of the participating states, you can fund one of the projects listed from that state or choose to fund a project from a different location of your choice. In your case, there's going to be some happy NC classrooms! Thanks for your support :)

Q:

I have a specific teacher/school in mind but I'm not seeing any way to check if she/it's participating. Understood I can always ask the teacher/school. But it would go miles in promoting your cause if you guys would post all such info including school, teacher, subject, what's needed, etc. and have all that information immediately forthcoming so potential doners can quickly search and not have to stop and ask this question. You're probably losing doners because of this lack of searchable information.

Nancy R.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Nancy - thank you for your question :) You can actually search by school on our project search page! Click on 'projects' on the top header of our site, which will take you to the search page. You'll be able to select a state and county and then see a full list of the schools with projects currently on the website. Once you select the school, you can even add additional filters to search by subject area, grade, and even if this the teacher's first project. Happy searching!

Q:

Sorry but I'm a bit confused - do we get to choose which projects to donate to?

Meera Z.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Meera - great question! Upon purchasing this Groupon, you will have $50 to donate to the project(s) of your choice! Have fun looking for projects in your hometown, on your favorite author, or on a hobby.

Q:

This is a wonderful program! Do you have to select the school you are donating to at the time you make the donation? Our school isn't set up on Donorschoose.org yet, but there are some projects that would be very suitable. It says the coupon expires in February, does that mean we have until February to select which project to donate to?

Tina B.  asked on  Nov 28, 2011

A:

Tina - we hope your school begins using DonorsChoose.org! Any Public, Charter, or Magnet school is eligible to participate. You will have until the expiration date to apply your gift code on any project of your choice. This means you have some time to let teachers from your school post projects and then apply your gift code.
