World Food Program USA (WFP USA) works toward alleviating hunger across the globe by advocating to shape public policy and generating resources for hunger relief organizations, including the long-term operations of the United Nations World Food Program. One of the program's current projects aims to feed more than 11 million people in the Horn of Africa, which includes the nations of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Djibouti. A significant number of those in need in this drought-stricken region of Africa are school-age children.
Many children in the Horn of Africa rely on meals served at school between classes to help them focus during lessons and sustain them throughout the day. The World Food Program provides fortified food such as breakfast porridge and midmorning snacks to help ensure students receive nutrients vital to healthy physical and intellectual development. Schools that provide meals often see a boost in attendance rates, particularly among young girls whose families may not otherwise send them to classes. When possible, the World Food Program also bolsters local economies by purchasing food from small farms in the developing countries where it is being distributed.
Join G-Team and donate $5, $25, or $50 to help World Food Program USA provide nutritious meals to schoolchildren in a drought-stricken region of Africa. If G-Team members raise $1,000, then WFP USA can provide 8,000 meals to children attending schools in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Djibouti, with matching donations up to $50,000 from anonymous donors. Each additional $5 raised will fund 20 meals.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
All donations will be matched up to a $50,000 total by anonymous donors.
