Gina Rossi, a self-taught artist and certified metal-inert-gas (MIG) welder, sparks interest in metalworking and fused glass in her extensive midtown-warehouse studio space. Expand your knowledge of melty sand with an Intro to Fused Glass class, which outlines the basics of the slow-moving liquid art. Glass manipulators can create any two semitranslucent items from a project list including jewelry, plates, coasters, and sculptures commemorating successfully installed software updates. This three-hour class meets Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon.
During the four-hour Intro to MIG Welding and Metal Sculpting class, students meld previously isolated metals together in molten harmony and use a plasma cutter and hand and power tools to slice metal and free coworkers frozen in slabs of carbonite. Learn how to make basic repairs to cars or forge an original work of industrial art. This class meets Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students will receive all materials necessary for a take-home creation and can retrieve their works of art two days after their class. Rossi Sculptural Designs welcomes flame-throwers aged 13 and older for its introductory classes. Complimentary light snacks are provided and can be gently heated with welders or a series of heavy exhales.

About Rossi Sculptural Designs
Gina Rossi's art comes to life in a flurry of sparks and cauldrons of heat. A self-taught artist and certified metal-inert-gas (MIG) welder, her work incorporates fused glass, paintings, and organic metal figures, and has been featured in the Sacramento Press, as well as KCRA Channel 3 news. When she was young, Rossi's forays into art and imagination provided stable solace from her tumultuous and oft-troubled childhood, and her passion eventually flowered into a full-time endeavor. Through her growth as an artist, she adopted a trash-into-treasure approach, working with recycled metal and glass, and earning notoriety for getting Oscar the Grouch evicted to craft a piece from his former home. Her regular welding and fused-glass-art classes share her talents with eager students, as do her efforts with community art projects, which empower young, disabled, and elderly people to make their creative mark in the world.
