Sky Combat Ace's cadre of 10 professional fighter pilots give guests a personal introduction to aerobatics and air-show maneuvers during 25-minute flights. Students pair with a trained SCA instructor pilot, who briefs them on air safety, demonstrates potential maneuvers, and distributes guides for spotting rare cloud animals. Flight apprentices then strap on parachutes and hop into cockpits, where their flight coach gives them a tour of plane controls before slipping into a seat behind them. After takeoff, pilots flap their wings through basic loops, rolls, and spins, as well as more advanced air-show-style hammerheads, tail slides, and tumbles. Though passengers are welcome to suggest maneuvers they'd like to experience, they'll ride safely under the expertise of a professional aviator and the judgmental stares of a broom-mounted witch.
New Extra 330LC’s, each outfitted with an optical targeting system and four on-board cameras, out-waltz the wandering breezes. The aerial chariots propel their human cargo at up to eight times the force of gravity and speed up to 200 mph, enabling them to win races against most paper airplanes. While pilots demonstrate low-level maneuvers during all flights, each excursion is customized to the individual student's interests. Following the adventure, participants can sip from their souvenir glasses, browse exhibits at the SCA Heritage Museum, or debate their favorite aviator call sign at billiard tables. Customers may also procure a video of their flight for an additional cost.
Sky Combat Ace
Sky Combat Ace gives customers the thrill of a lifetime by pairing them with real fighter pilots for adrenaline-filled flight experiences that range from a full-motion flight simulation to an aerial dogfight where they man the controls of a real Extra 330LC or Texan T6 warcraft. All skybound guests don parachutes prior to takeoff, and pilots maintain constant communication with them during the flight—checking in to make sure they're relaxed, comfortable, and aren't aging prematurely due to g-forces. After touching back down, guests can calm their racing hearts with a stroll through the SCA Heritage Museum.
