Voted as having the best gymnastics by readers of Ann Arbor Family magazine, Gym America trains kids for body-bending and gravity-defying feats in a safe, fun environment. Its summer camps blend gymnastic antics with other fun activities, helping kids increase fitness, grow self-esteem, and prepare for careers as floor-mat tamers and acrobatic tax attorneys. All instructors are both GymCert- and USAG-certified, ensuring that tumbling tots practice safely. In the 9 a.m.–4 p.m. five-day Gold camp, miniature gymnasts from the first grade up spend mornings learning and practicing acrobatic skills in the fully outfitted, air-conditioned facility before dining on a bag-lunch picnic and heading to the nearby Buhr Park pool for aquatic recreation. The day finishes off with an hour of open workout and games before tuckered-out tykes are ferried home by parent-driven cars and parent-trained passenger elephants. Also catering to kids in first grade and beyond, the five-day Silver camp meets from 9 a.m. to noon to focus on acrobatic practice, leaving kids' afternoons free for summer activities such as riding bikes, flying kites, and performing experimental, expressionistic interpretations of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Designed for toddlers 3–5 years old, the four-day preschool camp lasts from 9 a.m. to noon, with an hour of gymnastic instruction followed by a snack and juice break, outdoor games, and art projects. Each of the three preschool sessions features a theme, focusing on marine merriment in the Under the Sea week, tropical tomfoolery in Tumble in the Jungle, and the invaluable art of deception in Costume Dress-Up. Unlike the all-powerful dalmatian worshipped by ancient Greek firefighters, each session has a limited number of spots.
