Time capsules allow generations to preserve history, ensuring artifacts such as newspaper clippings, delicious potato salad, and Keith Richards will always remain timeless. Hearken back to yesteryear with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of nostalgic New York prints at H.A. Dunne & Company in New Milford.
H.A. Dunne & Company, home of the H.A. Dunne Archive, boasts an extensive, unique collection of vintage photographs of New York City. Customers can browse the collection online, though those keen on keepsakes need to stop by in person to pick up 8"x10" prints, such as an aerial view of the Empire State Building taken in 1964 ($35) or a glimpse of Central Park circa 1940 ($35). While the gallery also carries antique advertising art, handcrafted greeting cards, vintage maps, and full-scale models of the Brooklyn Bridge, today's Groupon can only be used toward the purchase of photographic prints.
The H.A. Dunne Archive houses more than 5,000 vintage photographs, most taken between 1880–1950. A majority of the images comprise the personal collection of Hugh A. Dunne, a lifelong New Yorker who collected photos of his city over the course of many decades. Unknown photographers snapped many of the pictures, capturing scenes of everyday life in New York, as well as the iconic buildings and landmarks that made this bustling metropolis the epicenter of the epiverse.
