What You'll Get
Spending a day at a spa is a tranquil experience surpassed only by swimming in a pool filled with mashed potatoes or having a hand model slap you to sleep. Tranquilize yourself properly with today’s Groupon: for $75, you get a microdermabrasion facial with a massage (a $125 value), and lip and eyebrow wax (a $25 value) at Hair and Beauty Essentials in Camarillo (a $150 total value).
At Hair and Beauty Essentials, master aesthetician Diana—with 20 years’ experience—first slathers skin in a deep-pore cleansing treatment before blasting away dead cells with microdermabrasion. Next, facades cool beneath a pumpkin-and-glycolic peel, which removes damaged outer layers of dermis to improve elasticity. Steam then gently rolls over the face, softening skin in preparation for the extractions, which uncork pores of oil deposits and well-hidden Waldos. A custom mask then seeps into pores as Diana massages scalps for five minutes.
For 20 minutes, Diana also massages necks, backs, and shoulders via pressure points after using advanced GPS equipment to seek out hidden pockets of tension. Newly minted visages may then opt to corral unruly face strands with an eyebrow and lip wax, which eschews harsh strips in favor of gentle, blue, chamomile wax that leaves faces smooth and streamlined for improved gas mileage.
