Q:

Do you offer lymphatic messages @ your clinic? I have had several in the past and I know I am in need of one now. I have had message therapists who said that they were trained in lymphatic message and they ended up making things worse. I need to know if you have certification and are knowledgeable with this type of therapy. Thank you for your time and honesty, Angie Mullinix

Ralph M.  asked on  Dec 10, 2011

A:

No, Hampton Bodywerk Massage Spa doesn't offer lymphatic massages and I am not certified in this modality. However, Swedish Massage does help with directing waste to the lymph vessels. Eventually, all lymph vessels lead to lymph nodes. Lymph nodes can be as small as the head of a pin, or as big as an olive. There are 400-700 lymph nodes in the body, half of which are located in the abdomen, and many are in the neck. Lymphatic Massages are normally applied to clients who has edema, lack of energy, sluggish immune system, sport injuries and scar tissue healing. However, there are several modalities that are excellent in the assitance of reducing edema, restore energy, help to improve the immune system and healing the body. Since the deal is about Balinese Massage, here are some of the benefits of Balinese Massage. One of the main goals of the Balinese massage is a relaxed state of mind. The Balinese feel that in order to have true relaxation there must be a good flow of blood and oxygen throughout your system. It is believed that when the blood and oxygen are flowing freely then the qi, or energy, will flow freely too. What sets the Balinese massage apart, aside from the combination of techniques, is the use of essential oils. When a Balinese massage is performed, great attention is paid to the scents used in the massage oil. A variety of essential oils are used, common scents such as jasmine, rose or sandalwood. The scents are used to represent relaxation, body indulgement, and anti-stress. Mental relaxation is only one of the goals of the Balinese massage. The massage is also designed to deeply relax tense muscle tissue. This is done by combining standard massage techniques like kneading, stroking, and skin rolling with gentle stretching. Ideally, the Balinese massage will work every muscle in your body. The massage style employs a variety techniques to do just that, including acupressure movements such as press point and palm pressure, and standard massage techniques like sliding, long exploration, short exploration and kneading. This massage is not a delicate one, you can definitely feel it deep in your muscles. It is this balance of massage, acupressure and reflexology that allows the Balinese massage to bring a release to deeply tense and knotted muscles. The massage works especially well on achy joints and muscle strains. In fact, sports injuries are often treated with a Balinese massage. Along with eliminating muscle pain, Balinese massage has been reported to ease migraines, sleep disorders and breathing problems. The massage also greatly reduces stress and anxiety. Overall, this massage promotes complete mind and body health. I hope that you will try Balinese Massage especially at these wonderful prices $25 or $45. Thanks, Don
