What You'll Get
Modern wine tours are safer now that guides are fully vetted to make sure they know unique wine facts and have never bricked up a group in a Venetian catacomb. Comfortably tap casks with today's Groupon: for $125, you get admission for two on a vineyard bus tour of Long Island's North Fork from Hampton Luxury Liner (a $300 value). Tours take place on Sunday, with pickup locations in New York City, Plainview, and Ronkonkoma, and include:
- Bus transportation to Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, Martha Clara Vineyards, and Palmer Vineyard (a $120 value/person)
- Two $15 vouchers for lunch at Baiting Hollow Farm
- Bagel breakfast onboard (a $10 value/person)
- Snacks onboard (a $5 value/person)
Hampton Luxury Liner fine-tunes a fleet of luxury motor coaches that shuttle passengers on pleasant journeys throughout the region's scenic sights and entertaining attractions. The Long Island Vineyard Tour winds through the North Fork and makes stops at three graperies for sightseeing and guided tours. After a bagel breakfast served on the coach, travelers explore Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, centering around a 150-year-old farmhouse overlooking varietals ranging from merlots to chardonnays to a rare water-balloon strain that contains a full glass of wine per grape. While at Baiting Hollow, guests will brandish their lunch vouchers against the on-site bistro's selection of sandwiches, including sliders, chicken, and other deli fare (entrees $10.99–$12.99 each).
Before being whisked back to the pickup point, oenophiles will also make stops at the award-winning Palmer Vineyards and Martha Clara Vineyards, which cultivates fine dessert and sparkling wines through the terroir of its former-farmland soil and through tricking other vintners into becoming melted-popsicle manufacturers. During the ride, trip takers can recline their leather seats—each equipped with a personal electric outlet—and use the free WiFi to impress sommeliers with researched compliments about how their ties imply notes of toast and black pepper. Riders may also choose to borrow some reading material from the rear-galley library or simply plug into the headphone jack and lose themselves in the en-route movie, viewable from five flat-screen televisions.
