Today's side deal transports you to Base Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago for $40 worth of upscale libations for $20. Enjoy the Michigan Avenue ambience, an outdoor patio for the snowless months and an amalgam of organic wines and beers for the unbeveraged.
Base Bar has an extensive drink menu, including Goose Island Mild Winter drafts ($6), True Earth Red organic wine ($12 for a glass), and adventurous seasonal cocktails such as the lavender tonic with Van Gogh vanilla vodka, grill-roasted lemonade, and a dash of tonic below a lavender-sugar rim ($11). These cocktails change all the time, so come tipple the tropical platano y café (Captain Morgan rum, plantain puree espresso, and fresh lime, $11) and the bohemian absinthe fountain (Le Tournament Vert absinthe served with a blood-orange fountain drip, $14) while you still can.
There aren't many reviews of Base Bar, but Yelpers rate the Hard Rock Hotel four stars and give some nice shout-outs to the bar itself:
