The entry doesn't really look like an entrance a business, but like an apartment building. I don't know if there ia an elevator. My niece and nephew enjoyed themselves. That is all that matters.
  • Three games of bowling
  • Plenty of lanes
  • Live DJs on weekends
  • Affable, attentive staff

If life is just a bowl of cherries, then bowling is a life of launching 12-pound cherry-flavored gumballs. Experience life's sweetest pastime with today's Groupon: for $13, you get three games of bowling and shoe rental at Harlem Lanes (up to a $30.50 value), located in Harlem.

Harlem Lanes greets guests with two floors of lively atmosphere that aim to go beyond the traditional three-fingered boulder-toss experience. Walk through its subtle red-awning entrance and signs will direct you to Harlem's bowling lanes, where exposed-brick walls encircle a large two-storied space donning an arcade, full bar, private VIP lounge, and dozens of HD screens and couches. At the main hub, a friendly attendant will outfit you with shoes (a $5 value) from your clown doppelganger and set you up on one of the 24 lanes, where you'll then engage in three games of pin punishment (up to a $25.50 value, depending on the day and time of the games). Though not included in this deal, Harlem Lanes does offer a full menu of eats for hunger satisfying, and players seeking libations can hit the fourth-floor bar, forcing nachos and wings to live at least one more day in fear.

Harlem Lanes fosters a casual, welcoming environment where you can hone your game or take down a few beverages until closing time. The ambience gets funky on Friday and Saturday, with live DJs and glow-in-the-dark bowling loosening up straitlaced pins. The entrance is just a short walk from the 125th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue A, B, C, or D train stop, making this lounge a convenient choice for a night out with the pals or an easy date with an agoraphobic subway troll.
