Harn Homestead - Lincoln Terrace: $5 for Two General Admission Passes to Harn Homestead

As George Santayana famously yodeled, "Those who do not repeat history are doomed to forget it." Prove him right by proving him wrong with today's Groupon: for $5, you get two general admission passes (a $10 value) to Harn Homestead.

Originally home to Mr. William Fremont Harn, his wife Alice, and their sassy talking cow, the Harn Homestead was built during the 1889 Land Run and has since become a first-rate museum that gives visitors a hands-on experience of Little House on the Prairie–time simplicities thanks to interactive exhibits and costumed re-creationists. Bring G-rated pioneer fantasies to life with an educational romp around the Homestead's seven historic buildings. Visit a one-room schoolhouse, tour the graceful Victorian dwelling, or pack a picnic to enjoy on the grassy promenade.

Guided tours of the Homestead are offered at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m., and last about one hour, leaving plenty of time to conjure the ghost of a menacing farm-hand in the outhouse's darkened mirror. You may buy multiple of today's Groupon to Harn Homestead, so you and your family can go on an adventure that fosters an appreciation and understanding of life before video games, USB-powered multi-blade razors, and recreational divorce.

Reviews

Harn Homestead has been featured on the Red Dirt Report and on About.com. Four Yahoo! Travelers give it a perfect five stars:

  • …the Harn Homestead and 1889ers Museum is one of the more intriguing museums in Oklahoma City. – Adam Knapp, About.com
  • The educational experience for my children was wonderful. They learned first hand about the early days of Oklahoma, the Land Run of 1889 and what life was like on a working farm. What a great experience. – A Yahoo! Contributor, Yahoo! Travel
