I had a great time on the tour. Our tour guide (and all the staff) was very friendly and informative. As others have mentioned, the tour focuses on Harriet Beecher Stowe's life and how she came to write Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was very interesting even for someone who hasn't read the book. A couple of practical tips for people going, the house is on Forest Street, which is a one way street, so just take it slow or you might drive right past the house and have to circle around. Also, if you have any time constraints, I'd give them a call in the morning to check for availability. They don't take reservations, but they do book school groups, so one day we went and the tour was booked up and we would've had to wait an hour so we decided to come another day. They told us we could take the Mark Twain house tour or they have a lunch counter that we could have gone to, but it was easier for us to go another time. They do have a discount if you go to the Mark Twain House on the same day, which they offer even if you go with the groupon and that tour is good too. All in all, it was a good experience and I'd definitely recommend it.

Great tour of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Harriet's life and her book writing, especially Uncle Tom's Cabin. The house was also very beautifully decorated with the original furnishings, paintings, etc. Strongly recommend this tour for anyone interested in City of Hartford's history!
