Shakespeare's tragedy Othello is a timeless story of love, jealousy, betrayal and revenge. When Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army, secretly marries a senator's daughter, one of his jealous captains, Iago, seeks to stir Othello into a manufactured rage. This sets in motion a chain of events that weave a tangled web of deceit, manipulation and ultimately murder. The Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra provides live accompaniment for the Hamburg Ballet's interpretation of this classic tragedy at Chicago's Harris Theater for Music and Dance.
This performance of Othello is in conjunction with the international Shakespeare400 celebration of the playwright’s 400-year legacy.
