Nestled alongside the Beaver Creek River amid 10 acres of verdant forest, the Hastings Resort affords guests a tranquil respite from quotidian pressures with a host of outdoor activities and a log-cabin-style main lodge. Inside the main lodge, visitors unwind in their standard room equipped with a king-size bed, and a private balcony overlooking the river enables serene morning-time ruminations and late-night rehearsals of Romeo and Juliet with local wildlife. Each room houses a 32-inch LCD TV outfitted with satellite TV. Upon wakening from rock-like slumbers, guests can fuel up for forthcoming adventures with complimentary tea, coffee, muffins, and danishes. After a day of rewiring lungs to operate on fresh air, pleasantly exhausted bodies can retire to H.R. Steakhouse for a hunger-erasing dinner. An entree of Ontario lamb chops ($25.95) arrives at tables accompanied by a grilled turnip side and drizzled with blueberry coulis; a 12-ounce marinated rib-eye steak ($29.95) partners up with its age-old collaborator, the baked potato, to create a gustatory dream team.

Appetites for alfresco activities can be sated with unlimited rentals of nonmotorized equipment that enables guests to scoop up a pair of bicycles, a kayak, or a paddleboat to explore surrounding pathways. Alternatively, guests can sidle up to the savvy excursion-services desk for help planning treks to nearby natural havens such as Algonquin and Bon Echo provincial parks. As an added bonus, today’s Groupon also grants guests 25% off ATV and snowmobile tours.

Hastings Resort

Nestled on the banks of Beaver Creek in a scenic grove of pine trees and meandering trails sit the expanses of Hastings Resort. While cushioned from the outside world by 10-acre forest, guests can explore the nearby trails by foot, ATV, or snowmobile all year long. In the summer, fishing and boating become popular local activities, with canoe or small-boat rentals available from the resort.

The main lodge accommodates guests in standard rooms or suites that have modern amenities such as jacuzzi tubs and LCD TVs. A few steps away, a private chalet houses up to 10 people in four bedrooms and boasts its own deck and fire pit. During their stay, guests often choose to dine on juicy rib eye, beef tenderloin, and fresh seafood at the onsite Steakhouse restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner. Additionally, to help guests feel better about their carbon footprint, all buildings at the resort are constructed of natural materials such as pine, cedar, stone, and naturally occurring bed linens harvested in the surrounding forest.
