The Hermitage Ruins Tour: Meet at the parking lot located on Mineral Springs Road and Sulphur Springs Road in Ancaster to embark on an eerie expedition through the Hermitage, an estate built in the mid-1800s and damaged by a fire in the 1930s. Strange spirits, such as the mansion's final owner, the ghost of a suicidal servant, and a confused mastodon, are said to emit an odd, ghoulish energy throughout the Hermitage. On October 16, tours leave at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., and 8:30 p.m., and on October 22, tours take off from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 30-minute intervals. This tour includes some violent and mature content related to historical events.
The Ghost Town at Twilight Tour: Ruthven: Connect with fellow scare junkies at the front steps of the Ruthven Estate Mansion in Cayuga before inspection of the Thompson family estate and two cemeteries begins. This tour is family friendly and ideal for a leisurely stroll through the haunted woods with children or wimpy adults. Tours take off at 30-minute intervals from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 23.
The Custom House Tour: Link up at 51 Stuart Street to travel through the notoriously haunted Custom House, rumoured to have at least 25 lost spirits, with the most famous known simply as the "Dark Lady." Investigate the basement and the tunnel vault where it is said 15 men were buried alive. This tour takes place at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on October 29, October 31, and December 11. This walk also includes some violent and mature content pertaining to historical events.
Knowledgeable actors with theatrical experience lead all ghost walks, keeping the pedestrian pace entertaining yet informative, like spotting a professor out in public. All walks contain a cunning mix of ghosts, history, and fun, making for one ghoulish night that probably won't turn you into a zombie.
