What You'll Get
According to most restaurant critics, the perfect Cuban meal is served on a plate, which rests on a table with legs. Enjoy Cuban fare the way it was meant to be prepared with today's Groupon. For $7, you get $15 worth of sandwiches, savories, salads, and soups at Havana Grill in Cary.
Dining next to a mural depicting a sunny, sand-castled day at the shore and a patio shrouded by white-and-blue umbrellas, diners will feel as though they've transported direct to the Cuban coast, but without the mayhem-related side effects of teleportation. An order of crackable plantain chips, dunked in garlic sauce ($3.25), appeases impatient appetites. Havana Grill serves a full menu of soups, beans, salads, and saucy entrees. The roasted pork sandwich ($6.95), grilled to order and stacked heavy with onions and garlic on Cuban bread, will appeal to meat eaters. For brain food, the grilled mahi-mahi filet soaked in a lemon-based blend is a smart pick ($13.95). Desserts include rice pudding ($2.95), coconut-flavored flan ($3.25), and a homemade three-milk cake topped with whipped cream and a cherry ($3.45).
Latin flavor leaks out of the kitchen for Havana Grill's weekly events. The colorful café plays host to a series of enchanting evenings, including "Dance under the Stars" which takes place on the heated outdoor patio Saturdays 7 p.m.-midnight.
