For $12, today’s deal gets you one ticket to see He Said – She Said on February 19 at 8 p.m. at the Arden Club’s Gild Hall (up to a $25 value), located in Arden. He Said – She Said weaves together the musical stylings of American singer-songwriter Peter Karp and Canadian Juno award-winner Sue Foley. Their 14 original songs, crafted from letters and emails the duo wrote to each other over a two-year period, interweave soulful lyrics with eccentric blues-, flamenco-, and folk-inflected tunes, all plucked from the strings of acoustic, electric, and semiconductive guitars and accompanied by a backing band. During the 2.5-hour performance, concert-goers can sup on Dogfish Head and Flying Dog brews ($3/bottle) and wine ($4/glass) as they relax inside Gild Hall’s rustic, barn-like space.
Bluesbelt magazine and AnnArbor.com featured He Said – She Said, and more than 1,600 Facebookers are fans of the project, which comprises an album in addition to the tour. The Arden Club's Gild Hall was featured in The Hunt.
- In the century since the barn was converted into a performance space, there have been some additions and improvements, but the beams show the age of the structure. The inside is primarily wood and earthy tones – it feels as if the venue was erected by nature itself. The smell of fireplaces and burning wood fills the room – a very welcoming scent and one of personal delight. – Ashley Clements, The Hunt
