Held Saturday, March 15, the Color Ye Irish 5K eschews the rigors of many races. Instead, walkers and runners of any age can choose their pace, stopping at regular intervals to be dashed with color from the flag of the Emerald Isle. Dyes are made from washable, edible corn starch, but particpants are encouraged to save their appetites for the afterparty, which will be stocked with Irish food and beer—soundtracked by live Irish music.
It’s simple enough to run three miles around your neighborhood, but why do that when a Healthy Races run could potentially involve a giant inflatable killer whale, mud-soaked ballerinas, or a mischievous leprechaun? Healthy Races injects each of its events with a crucial ingredient that is sadly all-to-often missing from exercise: fun. Though the company's events change based on the season, it has previously held mud runs, glow stick highlighter runs, Oktoberfest beer runs, and St. Patrick's Day-themed 5Ks.
