My son is a teenager and this was a gift for him. He felt the client profile was extremely young. We did not renew or extended but it was a great experience for him.

Average singing lessons with very little personalization. They just use the same techniques on everyone and tell you you have to be this way or that way to “become a true singer”.

Russell is a phenomenal teacher! He puts concepts in terms familiar to you to understand better and is patient. I learned a lot in 4 sessions with him. Meghan, the reciptionist is also nice and helpful.

I first tried to set up my lessons right after their spring break and I could not leave a message because they had not updated their voicemail yet (it still said they were on spring break). I ended up having to set up my lessons for 8:30pm which isn't ideal but I suppose is understandable given that I used a groupon. The lessons themselves... I didn't feel like the instructor was very knowledgeable. She was nice but didn't remember what we had done last week and didn't have a plan of what we were going to do for the day. Maybe if I had come in with specific requests she could have helped me but mostly I felt like we were learning together rather than me being taught by someone who knew what they were doing. For reference I was doing ukulele lessons and we had to ask the guitar guy for assistance. I guess I had fun and there was zero pressure to practice or anything which was fine with me but would have been frustrating if I was actually paying full price.

About Heart of Singing

What do the Lyric Opera Theater, the Chamber Opera of Chicago, and Step Up Revolution have in common? They all have ties to the faculty at Heart of Singing. This Chicago-based performance school employs only teachers with stellar credentials, so all of its students get helpful, yet practical expertise when it comes to singing, dancing, and playing instruments. From these masters, students learn the technical skills of performance, as well as first-hand knowledge from the teachers' years of performing. Once a year, the students even have the chance to perform themselves at the Client Showcase, which gives the students the opportunity to take center stage.
