Q:

Upon buying the wine ticket, do you get a glass with it for tasting?

kara w.  asked on  Mar 21, 2013

A:

After buying the groupon, just present that as your general admission ticket. You will need to pay the additional $2 per person for BOTH your wineglass AND the winetasting. I hope this helps. Thank you!

Q:

Do I have to still purchase a ticket or will my groupin be my ticket in and I will just pay the additional $2 to taste wines?

kara w.  asked on  Mar 21, 2013

A:

Your groupon will be your admission ticket. You can then pay the $2 per person for the wineglass and the wine tasting wristband. It seems strange, but we are just trying follow ABC law. Thank you.

Q:

I am confused-if you go to the website for James River, the $15 admission, includes wine tasting. Why does this deal not include wine tasting? This does not make sense. Why buy the groupon?

Tracey A.  asked on  Mar 19, 2013

A:

I'm sorry for any confusion. Regular price tickets to the April Fools Wine Festival are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate per person.
This Groupon offer is $15 for two general-admission tickets. Wine tasting is available for an additional $2 per person. Even with the additional $4 for two wine tasting if both people wish to taste wine, the total cost would be $19 vs. the $30 (advance) or $40 (gate) you would pay regularly. I hope this helps!

A:

Yes, the deal is a bit confusing, but it was structured to comply with Virginia ABC laws. In Virginia, groupon cannot offer a deal that includes alcohol, since they do not have a license to sell alcohol. This is why you will have to pay for the wine tasting when you arrive onsite. I hope that adds a small bit of clarity.
