Ring in the New Year and stave off the ill effects of Y2010K by getting far away from machines that have the potential to awaken Maximum Overdrive-style. Today’s deal gives you an escape to Heartland Country Resort, a cozy bed and breakfast and safe haven only 50 miles from downtown Columbus in Fredericktown, Ohio. For $100, you get one night at any of the lodges on the resort’s 76 acres (a $180 to $225, value depending on the day of the week and lodge). If you want to stay in the $240 four-person lodge suite on a weekend, you can pay the $15 difference. The same goes for having more than two people to a room (add $20 per extra person) or for requesting a house-trained musk ox to transport you around the grounds (add 10,000 shillings).
Each cabin features a variety of amenities, such as Jacuzzi tubs, porch swings, 25-foot cathedral ceilings, and electromagnetic force fields to help you reach peak relaxation. If your hands get too pruney from an overdose of Jacuzzi time, dry out by the communal stone fireplace in The Lodge or enjoy a dinner by candelight. Your Heartland stay includes a full country breakfast in the morning.
A variety of activities are offered for an extra charge. You’ll find horses to ride, hills to ski, fish to catch, and plenty of other outdoor and indoor activities. Of course, you’re always free to just cuddle up inside the calming confines of your chosen cabin.
Heartland Country Resort has been open since 1994; its secluded surroundings and quality service have earned it a three-diamond rating from AAA. Animal lovers will appreciate the grounds, as they are teeming with life from domesticated to wild to long-thought-to-be-extinct human beings. You can also BYOB and BYO animal—just be sure to give the resort a heads up so the other beasties and critters will be ready to greet your pets at the gate with open wings and high-hooves.
