Herald of Victory Marathon
The Herald of Victory Marathon is inspired by the original marathon story, in which Pheidippedes ran more than 20 miles from the battlefields of Marathon to the city of Athens with news of the Greek army's victory. In that spirit, this 26.2-mile race along Binghamton roads and Chenango River trails raises money for veterans' organizations, including the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Boston-qualifier race is the main event among a weekend of festivities that also includes a bike tour, kids' run, pancake breakfast, and afterparty with food, beer, and live music.
