The antibullying session, held at 2 p.m. on Saturdays from March 1 through April 19 and May 3 through June 21, is designed for kids between the ages of 5 and 8. The eight-week session works to improve students’ self-confidence, fitness as well, and practical self-defense skills in a fun environment. Pupils learn skills such as break falling, escaping from different situations, holds, and strategies for dealing with bullies.<p>
The Brazilian jujitsu course is available for students 9–13 and is held at 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 3 through April 24 and May 5 through June 26. The instructor provides a traditional take on Brazilian jujitsu with an emphasis on self-defense and safety, but still makes sure to introduce a competitive element.<p>
The one month Brazilian jujitsu fundamentals class for kids and adults combines cardio, drills, and technique instruction, which help students master form. Adult classes are at 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, or 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Kids’ classes run at 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. <p>
Heroes Martial Arts
Students grapple their way across 112 Swain tatame-style mats, which cover more than 2,400 square feet of space inside Heroes Martial Arts. The studio specializes in teaching Brazilian jujitsu courses, including classes that introduce students to the fundamentals and incorporate judo. In addition, instructors help students gain self confidence and an arsenal of self-defense moves during youth antibullying classes.
