- Hiatus massage: Relax with a 50-minute massage, customized with your favorite AVEDA aroma. Swedish massage techniques unwind your hastily tied-up muscles, get your blood moving, and revive your tired body.
- Hiatus facial: Get your game face on with this 50-minute facial. Hiatus’s expert esthetician will analyze your skin and design a custom approach to your unique sensitivities and imbalances. Your face will glow in the aromatic steam, and lymphatic massage and acupressure techniques will take you to a realm of a face-touching from which you’ll never wish to return.
- Rosemary mint body wrap: Exfoliate, soften, and wrap your skin with the refreshing scents of rosemary and mint in this 50-minute body treatment. Invigorating scalp and foot massages keep you feeling stimulated inside the wrap.
- Body polish: Take a luxurious 30-minute timeout in the private wet room at Hiatus. Begin with a head-to-toe massaging scrub in the AVEDA aroma of your choice and finish with a rainfall Vichy shower.
Wood décor and natural hues provide the backdrop for your soothing retreat, and vibrant accents of blue and green jewel-toned paintings mimic the artistic strokes of the massage therapist’s hands. The subtle aroma of AVEDA products invigorate the senses and linger on your skin all day, a refreshing reminder of your hiatus.
Reviews
Hiatus Spa was voted one of the Top 5 Best Day Spas in North Texas for 2009 on the WFAA A-List and was the 2007 Best Touch winner of Daily Candy’s annual Sweetest Things. Hiatus is featured in such publications as Tribeza, and The Dallas Morning News, and D Magazine where they won a 2008 D Beauty Award for “Spa Service Without the Spa Price”. Here’s what D Magazine had to say about Hiatus’s membership plan: > * Spa junkies, we’ve found your next fix: Hiatus Spa & Retreat in Inwood Village. For only $59 a month (a year commitment is required), you get to choose one 50-minute treatment from the list of core services. (Think aromatherapy massage and rosemary mint wrap.) For a few more bucks, you can add a little extra; $19 buys you a botanical skin resurfacing facial, a gentler alternative to microdermabrasion. Here you can sate your spa desires without spending a fortune. – D Magazine
Citysearchers give Hiatus a perfect five stars. Yelpers give it four stars: > * I enjoy the serenity of the place since it relaxes my mind and body even before the service starts. The services are great! I go there regularly for body and facial massages. – GiadaX, Citysearch > * I have been receiving facials from Hiatus Spa monthly and sometimes more often for almost a year and can see noticeable differences in the condition and texture of my skin. Each visit is ultra-relaxing… – KRA, Citysearch
God, Would You Relax?
Hiatus Spa is a fitting tribute to its namesake, Hyatus, the ancient Greek God of rest and relaxation. But despite his luxurious legacy and soothing demeanor, the myth of Hyatus is not a happy one.
Hyatus, brother of Dionysius, son of Zeus, and son-brother to Aphrodite, was the most beautiful and calm of all the Olympian Gods. It was often that Apollo or Phobos looked upon him in passing and remarked, “There be our calm and beautiful cousin. He is as the surface of a pond: calm, yet beautiful.”
Then one day, Hyatus heard a moaning below Mount Olympus. The townspeople were crying out; their feet were dry and cracked, their weekends still heavy with the burdens of the office. Unable to bear their sorrow, Hyatus blessed them with regenerating creams and heated stones.
Zeus, father-son-brother-in-law to Hyatus, became enraged at this act of generosity, and trapped Hyatus in a cube of exfoliating apricot paraffin. Hyatus spoke a final blessing upon his followers before the waxy substance silenced his birdsong voice forever: “This is doing wonders.”
