Hidden Meadows Farm
Hidden Meadow dogsled day trips are "hands-on" experiences on which you'll be driving your own dogsled powered by a team of friendly, handsome Alaskan Huskey dogs. Guides will accompany you to help out as needed, point out signs of wildlife and sights of scenic interest and share Algonquin Park lore. No experience is needed. Persons ages 10-75 have enjoyed these trips. Full day trips include lunch and the option of exploring many adventurous trail options in the afternoon.
Dog trips all begin at Sunday lake, the Big Pines trail, kilometer marker 40 east of the Algonquin Park west gate on HWY-60 in Algonquin Park; where guides will meet you with the dogs and sleds and make sure your clothing & boots are adequate, provide you with trail beverages & snacks upon request and take you through their "Dogsledding 101" orientation. The big moment arrives as your guide helps you launch your sled. Off you go, driving your own dog-team on wilderness trails. The guides will provide a trailside campfire lunch along the way. The trail system includes a variety of scenic options: hilly woodland terrain, sheltered bogs, frozen lakes & ponds and trails that are both easy and challenging. When stopping for lunch, you're welcome to help feed and water your dogs after which you will have a hot beverage and lunch cooked over an open fire before departing for afternoon dog sledding.
