What You'll Get
Like suntans and long-distance relationships, golf skills disappear if you don't keep working at them. Keep the magic alive with today's deal: for $26, you get 18 holes of golf plus a cart rental at High Lands Golf Club, a private golf-ball abuse facility located in Pataskala.
High Lands Golf Club's lush greens can resemble an 8-bit Nintendo game, with simple opening levels giving way without warning to intensely difficult challenges filled with bottomless pits, hidden traps, and an annoying dog that emerges from the heather to laugh at you every time you slice. As such, putting Padawans and PGA Jedi masters will both benefit by doing a little reconnaissance beforehand via the online course tour. The course's signature third hole—a par-five siren with a treacherously beautiful out-of-bounds area to the left and a majestically defensive black walnut tree hovering menacingly near the green—will inspire bold new advances in the science of human cursing, and the make-or-break par-four 17th hole demands a straight tee shot to avoid the out-of-bounds left and grove of trees to the right before lying to your face about the bunker it's hiding on greenside left. As nerve-wracking as these holes can be, it makes the reward for conquering them all the sweeter. Because High Lands is a private club rather than a public course, you can hit power drives without fear of injuring any practicing marching bands.
In between play, you'll be able to zoom wheel-loose and fancy free aboard a provided cart, although steely nerves are required for all cart captains who navigate the course's Bermuda Triangle, which, like its namesake, is disorienting, full of crashed airplanes, and possibly the handiwork of aliens. Grab today's Groupon and fly Han, or snag a couple and issue a tee-off challenge to a foursome of friends and coworkers at High Lands Golf Club.

About High Lands Golf Club
The private course at High Lands Golf Club challenges visitors with 6,599 yards of tight lies, concealed obstacles, and fairway trees extending their unlucky limbs into players’ sightlines. Tree-lined fairways and immaculate greens yield some scenic vistas for players bashing orbs along the course’s serpentine length. The signature third hole starts players off from an elevated tee shot that must stay out of the out-of-bounds area on the left, but not drift too far right, where clearing the wooded ravine on the second shot would become impossible. The next shot onto the elevated green is made difficult by the black walnut tree guarding the green, making for an altogether difficult run at par. Toward the end of the round, players must face a gauntlet of obstacles on holes 16, 17, and 18 before heading in for the day. Named the “Bermuda Triangle” for the architect’s tendency to incorporate treacherous waterways and affinity for Bermuda shorts, hole 16 challenges golfers with difficult lies, slippery putts, and water hazards that loom large.
