The Nathan James Band, one of the hottest roots blues groups in America today, performs at Highway 99 Blues Club. James, who toured the country with James Harman before going solo, is a multi-instrumental master -- a gifted singer, soulful harmonica player, and creator of his own instruments, such as the "washtar," a combination guitar and washboard. His three-piece band's style draws from such diverse genres as 1920s acoustic blues, 1950s uptown blues, country juke joint music, and 1960s soulful R&B. Influences include B.B. King, James Brown, the Famous Flames and more, with the result being an electrifying and authentic sound.
