Singer-guitarist JP Soars brings his band, the Red Hots, to Highway 99 Blues Club in Seattle. Soars is a legit bluesman, with influences like Muddy Waters and Guitar Slim, and jazz guitar greats like Django Reinhardt and Wes Montgomery. But he also counts hard-edged rock acts like Black Sabbath and Slayer as his inspirations. His resulting sound is unique, whether in his singing or playing, both on his hollow-bodied Epiphone six-string and home-made two-string cigar box slide guitar. Soars first emerged on the national music scene with his critically acclaimed 2008 album, Back of My Mind. He and the Red Hots then followed it up by beating bands from around the world to win the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Their follow-up album, 2011’s More Bees With Honey, received substantial airplay on XM Radio and earned praise from Little Steven Van Zandt on his syndicated Underground Garage radio program. Opening the show will be Frank Paletta & the Stingers.
