Highways Performance Space and Gallery champions the experimental, which makes it the perfect host for two unclassifiable experimental music groups, JAB and the Obihiro Cowboys, to debut their new works. Both ensembles combine voices and instruments, humor and improvisation, in imaginative and unexpected ways. In Anna Homler's new ensemble JAB with bassist Jeff Schwartz and soundscape percussionist Breeze Smith, Homler sings in an invented language while toys, wood and metal sculptures and more make sounds. A cornet, trombone, tuba and percussion come together as The Obihiro Cowboys, a union of instrumentalists and improvisers from tuba player William Roper's most frequent collaborators. Catch this exciting new music as it's being created live in Santa Monica.
This event ends at 9:00pm.
