The Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society was founded in October, 1997 for the purpose of preserving the historic Hillsboro Light Station in its original form for the safety, enjoyment, and education of the public.
Our mission today is to promote the history of the Hillsboro Lighthouse Station and the Hillsboro Inlet area through preservation of structures and artifacts, education and public access tours.
The primary goals of the society at its inception were the restoration and repair of the Hillsboro Light's original Fresnel lens (pronounced: fray-nel) and its reactivation in the lighthouse beacon for the safety of the mariners on our waters; the opening of the Hillsboro Lighthouse and its grounds for the education and enjoyment of the public; and the continued support of the community in maintaining the lighthouse for future generations. Visits to the Lighthouse are 1 each month. Visit Hillsborolighthouse.org for dates and sailing times. Or Call Debbie @ 786.251-0811 for details
Working closely with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the HLPS succeeded in its original goals. See our history page for detailed information on the society's efforts.

About Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse Preservation
For more than a century, Hillsboro Lighthouse has stood on the inlet, shining its beacon to guide ships in to harbor. But time and the salt of the ocean take their toll, and so the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society has stepped in to ensure future generations can see this landmark. Apart from maintenance and upkeep, the organization provides occasional weekend tours so that fans young and old can imagine themselves serving as lighthouse keeper while taking in a stunning view of Hillsboro Beach and the surrounding waters.
