About Himalayan Salt Cave and Spa

There are some big numbers behind Himalayan Salt Cave and Spa—30,000 pounds and 7,200 miles are the first few that come to mind. The former is the amount of pink Himalayan salt that covers the walls and floor of the spa's salt cave. The latter is the approximate distance that salt traveled from Pakistan, thanks to Doctor of Chiropractic Steven C. Lint.

When the chiropractor moved his practice to a former bank in Bruceton Mills, he transformed the drive-thru area into Himalayan Salt Cave and Spa.

“We saw a couple of Himalayan salt caves . . . and we really liked the atmosphere,” Lint told The DPost.com. “It was really relaxing, and with our whole wellness center philosophy, we thought it was a great fit.”

That sense of relaxation is one of the potential benefits of salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, which aims to promote overall health and well-being. The therapeutic method isn't relegated to the salt cave. Lint and his staff employ it throughout their treatments. Read on to learn more:

  • Acupuncture: Inside a salt room, an acupuncturist uses fine needles to target the body’s 12 meridians and redistribute energy. The ancient technique can be used to treat pain, stress, and other ailments.
  • Massage therapy: Methods ranging from gentle, yoga-like stretches to the firm pressure of deep-tissue massage are used to soothe bodies and minds as clients unwind inside a salt room.
  • Salt sauna: The center is home to a pair of salt saunas, each of which is heated to 101 degrees. The combination of halotherapy and heat draws impurities from the body while increasing blood circulation.
