What You'll Get
Today's side deal lets you see just how much a master crafter can accomplish. For $4, you get one ticket to the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival, held April 8–10 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg (up to a $9 value). Each admission is good for all three days.
Attracting 10,000–16,000 art enthusiasts annually, Gaithersburg's Sugarloaf Crafts Festival showcases original work from more than 250 artisans, from handcrafted pottery, sculpture, and glass to jewelry, fashion décor, and photography. Audiences can feast their eyes as skilled sculptors, woodworkers, and more demonstrate their crafts.
This year's festival razzes guests with live music entertainment by Grammy-nominated artist David Young and the familiar tunes from Stan and LeeAnne, who recant classics from the 1970s to today. Meanwhile, little ones (children younger than 12 are admitted free) can bop around to costume storytelling while parents take their turn to shop for the latest accents that best complement walls, office, and paisley sweaters.
