Choose from Four Options

  • $12 for a tour for two (a $24 value)
  • $22 for a tour for four (a $48 value)

Then choose between the Heritage Trail tour and the cemetery tour.

For the Heritage Trail tour, self-guided tour groups strap on the provided headsets or upload audio files to their own MP3 players. Then they set forth to explore 300 years of history on the 10.9-mile Heritage Trail. There are more than 80 stops along the trail, all of which are broken into six parts that cover the area history: Founders, Monocacy Valley, Westward Expansion, Victorian Bethlehem, Farmland to Industry, and Steel.

During the cemetery tour, groups meet their authentically costumed guide in the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem. From there, brave souls set off through North Bethlehem to such destinations as the 1741 Gemeinhaus, the oldest building in the city. Attendees learn about the Old Chapel, the time’s funerary practices, and the communal life of the Moravians. Tours run Wednesday–Sunday at 3 p.m.

Historic Bethlehem Partnership

Founded on Christmas Eve in 1741 by a small group of Moravian settlers and christened “Christmas City, USA” in 1937, Bethlehem shines a light on the past with year-round guided tours and museum exhibits. The 10.9-mile Heritage Trail snakes through 80 historic stops, including two National Historic Landmark and the National Historic Landmark Districts of Historic Moravian Bethlehem as well as Victorian-era homes. On historic walks, guides lead tour groups through the now-defunct site of Bethlehem Steel, the city’s oldest cemetery, and the 1762 Waterworks, known as the first municipally pumped water system in the country.

The Kemerer Museum Of Decorative Arts is one of only 15 of its kind in the country. And located inside the 1741 Gemeinhaus, the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem curates a collection of exhibits about the town’s settlers, including their missionary work, education system, and medical technique—a wealth of information that's earned the museum the title of Best Historic Spot on the Lehigh Valley’s Happening List.

Customer Reviews

Very interesting tours at both the Moravian Museum...learned a lot more from Nancy, the tour guide, than I knew about the Moravians before and the Kemerer Museum, the girl who gave the tour was very informative and was very enthusiastic.
