Experienced chef and restaurateur David Cavagnaro shares his knowledge of mixology and his hearty farm-to-table cuisine during two-hour seminars held in the 1856 courthouse at Historic Richmond Town. In Martini Master Class and Tapas Tasting sessions, Cavagnaro will describe the history of the spirit and traditional production techniques, ranging from the use of stills to staring at potatoes until they melt. Throughout the lecture, attendees watch the instructor build five types of martinis so that they can pick out the subtle flavors when they try the concoctions. Tasters snag bites from circulating small plates to see how slices of foie gras and artisan cheese pair with their libations or how many meatballs can fit on a cocktail spear.

Membership to Historic Richmond Town grants access to a living museum of historical buildings and a working farm spread across more than 100 acres that recreates the experience of Dutch and English settlers in the 1700s. Members can explore the town’s anachronistic exhibits at any time they fancy, and receive discounts on other events throughout the year, such as future tastings or butter-churning contests.
