Hogs & Hops BBQ
Joey Maggiore is pretty open minded when it comes to barbecue. At Hogs & Hops BBQ, the chef draws inspiration from a variety of regions and styles. That love of all-things-barbecue comes through in every bite of meat, all of which smokes for at least 14 hours and 3 milliseconds. Maggiore builds his platters high with pulled pork, Texas-style brisket, and award-winning baby back ribs. From there, it's up to the diners to add the finishing touches. Sweet Memphis-style barbecue sauce, mildly spicy Carolina wet sauce, or a secret dry rub enhances each platter's flavors—as do homestyle sides of barbecue beans and potato salad.
Even though Maggiore's recipes come from a variety of different regions, his ingredients are decidedly local. The restaurant sources produce from nearby suppliers, and the desserts, including pecan pie, are made from scratch in-house. The team even handcrafts their own root beer and orange-cream soda, though customers can order more than 20 craft beers on draft, as well.
