Pizza is traditionally circular, as its original octagonal shape caused patrons to simply stare at it and wait for the diner on their right to move. Pave your throat’s thoroughfare with cheese with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of brick-oven pizza, cold and hot subs, and Sicilian-style fare at Home Style Pizza in Schenectady.

Spanning multiple generations, the extended family behind Home Style Pizza has been crafting a menu of brick-oven pizzas, Italian dishes, and Sicilian-style eats since 1972. Chefs drizzle the Meat Lovers ($16.99+) fresh pizza dough with sausage, hamburger, and pepperoni, and arrange the hawaiian’s ($16.99+) crust with pineapple and ham. Customers can select from 20 toppings with which to coat a Sicilian-style thick pan pizza, which is baked inside of a real brick oven as opposed to inside of a mime’s invisible “oven.” Sub sandwiches such as the meatball parm ($7.99) dress freshly baked breads with premium meats, and calzones and stromboli ($7.49+) wrap cheese and toppings into a handheld comestible perfect for when forks are subbing in as the TV’s makeshift antenna.

Home Style Pizza

In 1972, family patriarchs Andrea and Rina Adonnino and Anthony and Ida Bennice opened the doors of Home Style Pizza, and it's been a fundamental fixture of their families ever since. To pair with a menu of authentic Italian dishes, the Sicilian-style café is strewn with display cases installed by Rossi Dimensions of Pesaro, Italy. In the kitchen, skilled chefs employ combinations of 20 toppings to coat thick pan pizzas that are baked inside real brick ovens—far more filling than those baked inside a mime’s invisible “oven.” Customers can enjoy a hot or cold sub sandwich on the outdoor patio, or they can nosh on a calzone, a stromboli wrap, or hearty pasta in marinara, light rosa, or pesto cream sauce.
