It's admittedly hard to put your finger on the sound produced by the local faves known as The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra. They've variously been described as "Chick Corea meets The Dixie Dregs meets A Prairie Home Companion," but also as "Bela Fleck meets Rush, goes out to breakfast with John Coltrane and gets home in time to go golfing with Jeff Beck." Or, in other words, you can say this talented art-rock quartet fuses jazz, bluegrass, Southern rock, down-home Minnesota charm and whatever else they feel like. The group consists of violinist Lisi Wright, guitarist Dan Neale, bassist John Wright and drummer Alec Tackmann, who all share the vocal duties. Catch their latest show at the Hopkins Center for the Arts and arrive early for a social hour featuring complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
This show is not recommended for children under age 10.
The social hour begins at 6:00pm. Hors d’oeuvres available while they last.
