What You'll Get
Dancing is a lot like juggling hammers—if you do it right you’ll be the life of the party, but if you lose concentration you’ll bruise your big toe. Keep your toes twinkling with today’s Groupon to Hot Club of Durham in Durham. Choose from the following options:

- For $15, you get 6 beginner swing-dance classes (up to a $75 value).
- For $28, you get 12 beginner swing-dance classes (up to a $150 value).
- For $40, you get 18 beginner swing-dance classes (up to a $225 value). See the online calendar for class descriptions and dates.

Hot Club of Durham’s experienced instructors steer students through classes designed to elucidate the art of swing dance. Beginner lessons channel 1920s stepping styles, equipping students with the know-how and fancy footwork to twirl a partner across the dance floor or side-step the 18th Amendment. Dance coaches edify students in a choice of styles including the lindy hop, balboa, charleston, and single-step East Coast. The Charleston—widely regarded as the founding father or Zachary Taylor of swing dance—equips students with baseline skills, and the lindy hop briefs pupils in the genre’s signature moves, including the swing-out and lindy circle.

A full class series spans six weeks with one one-hour lesson per week; participants who opt for the six-class option must attend consecutive sessions. Classes typically contain an even mix of couples and singles, though today’s Groupon is priced for the individual, meaning beaus or specters of Jay Gatsby must foot their own admission. The Groupon may also be applied toward other class types as they become available; check the schedule for more details.
