What You'll Get
When mothers first sprinkle a baby’s bald head with water and fertilizers, they can only guess how the ensuing hair will grow. Today’s Groupon lets clients take control of their own wildly growing follicles: for $50, you get $120 worth of salon services at Hot,Rock&Dye! in Windsor.
The talented tress-trimmers at Hot,Rock&Dye! draw style inspiration from the glitz and glamour of bygone eras such as the 1940s and ’50s, as evidenced by the salon’s retro-chic feel. Benefit from a free hair consultation to determine the best fringe capacity for your chin dimensions before enjoying a full-scalp massage, complimentary cocktail, and aromatherapy treatment in the laid-back Lather Lounge ($15–$25 value). Lady folk can decorate their headspace with a modern or retro ’do ($55–$65), while lads can forge a new hair helmet for $25 in The Cutting Room. Coloring and texture treatments are ready and willing to morph manes from 1740s powdered wig to 1940s liberty curl, while makeup applications ($45–$55) await eager eyelids and hopeful kissers.
The salon’s comprehensive spa services complete the hair-skin-body triumvirate, offering guests facials, waxing services, massage therapy, and the unerring ability to predict Shetland Island weather patterns. Leave the Hot,Rock&Dye! premises with your choice of hair growth or appendage newly beautified and gleaming.
- Hair fashionistas will want to check this place out. No middle-of-the-road here, this is a place hair and their follicles will boldly go, a space blending hair and hot-rods, Hollywood and art-nouveau. The atmosphere of the place is far, far different from the boring utilitarian barbershops where this author’s conservative hairs are shorn. But Hot Rock and Dye’s name doesn’t reveal the whole story, and this is a studio of friendly folks that want to give every customer much more than just a style, but a refreshing zest for life when they stride out to face the world. – John Karas, Windsor Journal Weekly
