Music and drinks have long been enjoyed together, from turn-of-the-century gentlemen sipping scotch around the Victrola to modern gentlemen sipping scotch around the Victrola in a 3-D holographic recreation chamber. Some things never change with this Groupon.

General admission grants access to the festival on Saturday, October 26, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Discovery Green. Samples of the fest’s namesake drink are available in 14 different flavors, with tasters for $2 each, full-size margaritas for $6, and premium margaritas for $8. Guests can also pair their sips with Mexican food or barbecue from vendor booths. A dozen bands play throughout the day, including the New Orleans–inspired Texas Brass Band and salsa specialists Salmerum the Mambo Jazz Kings. The 2013 festival is larger than previous years, with an expanded space, additional drink ticket booths, and a VIP section with extra food booths and handmade margarita stations.
Margarita Festival’s organizers throw a party based on a combination almost as classic as tequila, salt, and citrus: drinks, music, and sunshine. In the crisp fall air, guests sample a variety of traditional and flavored margaritas, from samples to full-size premium drinks using top-shelf liquors. The fest also hosts salsa and limbo competitions with cash prizes and trophies for the winners. Although the winner of the limbo competition is determined by the deepest back bend, the organizers use an Apollo-style judging system for the salsa event, with the winners chosen by the loudest cheer from the crowd or the brightest spotlight from the sun.
