Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

Can you please tell me when you offer the classes (dates & times) and where is the class (location)? Please advise. Thanks

Cristina S.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Class is always held at Holiday Park at 9AM. I always hold at least 2 classes per month, normally the second and last Saturday, though holiday weekends and my personal calendar may alter that. For example, due to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day, weekends falling around the last Saturday, I am scheduling class for Nov. 17, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15. Holiday Park is at the southeast of corner of the US1/Federal Hwy and Sunrise Blvd intersection, close to downtown Fort Lauderdale. When you register for class exact details of where we meet in the park are supplied via your confirmation email. Hope this helps! :) TJ

Q:

One last question, promise! My husband bought me a Panasonic DMC FZ200. Is this a 'DSLR' camera? I think it is, as noted from the previous question from Sonny B, but I wanted to make sure. If not, can you still help me anyway? I already bought the Groupon cuz my husband thought it was, and this camera is WAY out of my league. I am intending to add the $60 for the one on one instruction so I can really understand this camera. Thank you for your patience and I promise my next contact will be to set up an appointment, presuming you can help me! ;-)

Susan P.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

Technically, this is not a DSLR, but it still qualifies for my instruction as it has the dial with "P", "A", "S" and "M" which allows you to shoot in either Program, Aperture-priority, Shutter-priority or Manual mode.

Q:

I am interested in purchasing this for my fiance for a Christmas gift. He is always messing with the camera so I think this class would be great! One thing - Is this class taught based on any DSLR camera regardless of brand?

Jenna F.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

Yes, any DSLR will work, regardless of brand or model. :)

Q:

Hi, I have a Nikon P510, is this considered a DSLR camera? If not, can I use it to take your class anyway?

Sonny B.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

Yes, a Nikon P510 qualifies for class as it allow one to photograph in Shutter-priority and Aperture-priority, as seen on the dial marked with "P", "S", "A" and "M". Other cameras that are marked with "P", "Tv", "Av" and "M" also qualify.

Q:

So just to clarify from an earlier question from Susan P; I can pay $99.00 (39.00 up front and 60.00 at the time of the class ) and get 2 hours of 1-on-1 instruction?

Chastity c.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

Yes. But to be absolutely clear: you pay $39 for the voucher for one. Then you contact me to set up a time for your 1 on 1 instruction (weekends only during the winter months). We then arrange for the remaining payment of $60. I accept cash and credit.

Q:

Thanks for your help on my earlier question....so how do I buy the one on one option, spending the extra $60 as it offers in the description? When I hit the 'buy' button, I don't see an option for "Groupon customers may also spend an additional $60 to apply their voucher value of $100 toward a two-hour, 1-on-1 instruction (a $160 value)." I kind of feel I would really benefit from the one on one and since I have a back issue, the more convenient time schedule available and the one on one instruction is more appealing to me. So, do I just add the extra $60 when I check out?? Thanks again for your help and I look forward to learning about how to use my new camera!

Susan P.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Simple purchase the voucher for one through Groupon. You'll contact me when you want to schedule your 2 hours of 1 on 1 time on a weekend. I will either invoice you or collect the remaining $60 when we meet. I accept cash or credit cards.

Q:

Can the class be in Spanish? Thx

Celeste P.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

Sorry, I only speak English so no alternate languages are offered at this time.

Q:

To be clear, in the Groupon offer it says $39 for 2.5-Hour Beginner DSLR Camera Class for One or Two....however when you read the description, it says you 'teach up to 10 pupils per class how to identify and control their camera's aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in a two-hour session'. So what exactly would we be getting? I certainly don't mean to sound petty as this is a wonderful offer but it's a little confusing. Is it 2 hours, or 2.5 hours? (I need all the help I can get!! LOL!) And do you only offer the class at 9am? Thank you so much for your help!

Susan P.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

The class is 2.5 hours. The 2 hours in the description must have snuck by copywriting. You are buying a voucher for one or two people to attend a group class of up to 10 people. I can see how this can be confusing in the way it is worded in the description. Classes are only offered at 9am unless I add classes based on high demand. But do not purchase thinking this will happen if you are unable to ever attend a Saturday at 9AM. Lastly, you can also purchase the voucher and apply it towards 1 on 1 instruction. 1 on1 instruction is held at a time on the weekend more convenient for the student, rather than just at 9AM. The voucher is worth $100 (for one person) and 1 on 1 instruction is $80 per hour. Many students have done this as they preferred the personalized attention rather than the group setting. Lastly, 2 hours of instruction is about the minimum required to get through much of the basics, but each student is different.
