With four kosher-friendly locations across Manhattan and one in Williamsburg, Hummus Kitchen embraces the flavors as well as the potential of its namesake dish. The chefs begin with organic chickpeas, creating a silken, nutritious, and warm dip with "pleasing body and a pronounced nuttiness," according to the New York Times. Although the tried and true original recipe helped earn the eatery a spot on CBS New York's list of NYC’s 5 Best Plates Of Hummus, the chefs blend a total of six different varieties of hummus. They top these dips with everything from fava beans and hard-boiled eggs to onions and ground lamb.
Beyond hummus, the seasonal menu features a variety of familiar Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Moroccan–style tilapia slow-cooked in cilantro, lemon, and sweet and hot red peppers appears alongside kebabs of ground beef sirloin. To accompany their meals, the kitchen staff also offers a wine list that includes a number of Israeli wines as well as bottles from California, Spain, Italy, and New Zealand.
