The Huntsville Tennessee Valley AMBCUS works to fit children and adults with disabilities to AmTrykes, enabling anyone that can operate a wheelchair to join family members and friends in riding bikes. Doors open at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens Grisham Pavilion promptly at 11 am, and festivities begin with an AmTryke demonstration and ribbon cutting. Plates pile up with pork or chicken supplied by LawLer’s Barbecue at noon, giving diners the sustenance needed to lift wooden and lead objects in order to vote on silent auction items benefiting the organization, such as gift certificates to local vendors or a massage package. Guests can also wander through the gardens, taking in the resident flowers, butterflies, and native plastic flamingos. Since 2009, the Huntsville Tennessee Valley AMBUCS has equipped over 100 kids and grownups with therapeutic cycles that increase mobility and independence.
