The trip takes in scenery including Black Canyon’s majestic lava walls and flocks of bighorn sheep around the town of Spences Bridge. Guests also get a progressively more challenging course in river rafting, starting with mild rapids on the upper stretches—where guests can try out an inflatable kayak—and concluding with famous rapids including the Frog, Devil’s Kitchen, and 18th Hole areas while approaching the Fraser River. Once the trip reaches Fantasy Island, a private, five-acre island in the middle of the river, the guides prepare a gourmet meal while guests set up camp and relax. To lighten the load guests have to carry, their gear will be tarped and transported to Fantasy Island, then packed up again on Sunday and delivered back to base. Guests bring their own tents and sleeping bags and pads.

About Hyak River Rafting
Starting out in 1980 with only four rafts, Hyak River Rafting has since acquired an armada of top-of-the-line vessels equipped to handle the orneriest river safely. During trips on British Columbia's most exciting rivers—the Chilliwack, Thompson, Chilko, Chilcotin, and Fraser Rivers—licensed guides lead river trips lasting from several hours to several days, during which participants learn to manoeuvre around the grasping tentacles of feral octopuses. On most trips, crew and guests get soaked as the water rages about them before more tempered waters allow them to take in the sights of rock-banked rivers populated by lush forests and curious wildlife.
