What You'll Get
America has always been the most extreme country, from the Boston Tea Punchings to having the first man swear on the moon. Partake in a new extremely American tradition with today's Groupon: for $32, you get one entry to a hybrid sporting event with Hybrid Adventure Series at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula, on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 (a $65 value).
Hybrid Adventure Series (H.A.S.) tests sportspeople’s athleticism and grit in a fusion of unconventional sports. Surrounded by the rocky inclines and dense verdure of Vail Lake, athletes strain their endurance to score as many points as possible in a competition combining a three-, six-, or nine-mile adventure run, 400-meter grit pit, and wildcard challenge events including archery, tractor-tire rolling, and shark dancing, each designed to challenge adventurers’ minds and bodies. The triathlon splits divisions into male, female, and Clydesdale (more than 200 pounds), sending them scrambling in three waves at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m. Participants receive a race bib, timing chip, official H.A.S. athletic shirt, and finishing medal, and the chance to qualify for the National Championship, where they'll go head to head against the top 150 athletes and one bionic kitten. Go getters can also join the Teams 4 a Cause division where H.A.S. will donate $5 per team member to your favorite charity or cause on behalf of your team.
While exhausted racers snuggle up under a warm tree, the H.A.S. team will be partying with live music and entertainment, a post-race costume competition, and one free thirst-quenching beer for each athlete to help replenish the body's natural stores. Adventurers should arrive with a photo ID at least one hour early to park and pick up their race packets.
