Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

Is gas included and how many people can fit on the boat?

izzy  asked on  Jun 12, 2012

A:

No, gas is not included. It's $5 per gallon upon return, based on usage. Average usage is 2-3 gallons but can be more based on how the boat is used (i.e., fishing vs cruising). Depending on configuration, the boats can seat up to 5 ppl.

Q:

Can we call ahead to hold the 15-foot or 17-foot Boston Whaler boat ? Do we need any type of license to operate the boat?(beside fishing license)?

israel  asked on  Jun 12, 2012

A:

Reservations are required and generally need to be made 3-4 weeks in advance for weekend rentals, less for weekday rentals. We are open and available to take your reservation 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm Mon-Sat and 8am to 7pm Sun. Here's what the FWC rules are regarding boating licenses, "In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after January 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Florida does not have a "boating license." The Boating Safety Education Identification Card is proof of successful completion of the educational requirements and is valid for life." FWC-approved boater safety courses can be found at http://myfwc.com/boating/safety-education/boating-courses Hope this helps!

More Questions and Answers

Q:

I have a lab and two aussies-would they be allowed on the boat? Thanks!

Jill B.  asked on  Jun 15, 2012

A:

Leashed, well-behaved dogs are certainly welcome as long as they don't interfere with the operation of the boat or the safety/seating of the passengers. We have really great reviews from canines who have enjoyed the bird's-eye view from the front of the boat! :-)

Q:

How many gallons does it take to fill up? How far out are we allowed to go? How long is the training before the rental?

Victoria L.  asked on  Jun 15, 2012

A:

All boats are filled up prior to leaving the dock and only the fuel that is used is charged for upon return. The boats are limited to the waters of Tampa Bay, which is quite a large area of water. The operational and navigational instruction varies based on renters' prior experience and comfort level with the boat.

Q:

I have 5 adults and one 14 month old that would be going, would we need to upgrade to a larger boat? If so, how much is it to upgrade with this deal? Also, from your location is it possible to get out into the gulf at all, or just the bay and weedon island? Thanks so much!

Kristen B.  asked on  Jun 13, 2012

A:

Great question! We have a 5-seater 17' Whaler that would work BUT, for better comfort and fun, we would recommend upgrading to either the 22' Whaler or a 24' deck boat. For an 8-hour rental, you want to be comfortable and have room to move around. The larger boats would allow for this. At the time of reservation, you have 2 options: specifically request the 5-seater 17' Whaler OR upgrade to a larger boat. The 22' Whaler would be $75 and the 24' deck boat would be $100. Yes, it is possible to get to the Gulf from our location but the rentals are limited to the waters of Tampa Bay. Hope this helps!

laurence e.  asked on  Jun 13, 2012

No, you don't need to have a 3rd or 4th wheel in order to rent one of the boats. :-) You and your wife are welcome to enjoy the time to yourselves.

Q:

I was the one that mentioned we are staying on Anna Maria Island you mentioned your an hour north of Anna Maria is that by boat or car?

Brian S.  asked on  Jun 13, 2012

A:

By car. You'd have to come up over the Skyway Bridge and north on I-275 to get to us. And the rental couldn't be taken to Anna Maria - it's too far out of our range. Hope this helps!

There is availability during the week, as of this typing. No, we do not rent snorkel gear. Please call (727) 578-5117 to check availability and to make a reservation. (We're open until 8pm tonight and open back up at 8am in the morning). We are approx. 1 hr north of Anna Maria Island.
