Q:

Do I need to have any license to drive the boat?

Naffany L.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Florida does not have a boating license BUT here's what Florida law says about operation of a boat: In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after January 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Info on the course can be found at: http://myfwc.com/boating/safety-education/boating-courses Also, for those who plan to FISH, a license is required. Info on Fishing Licenses can be found at: http://myfwc.com/license/recreational/saltwater-fishing/

Q:

How long would it take to get to Fort Desoto and Caladesi Island. Are these in the bounds the boat is allowed to go?

Beth L.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Both of these are outside of the boundaries for our rental boats. The rental boats are limited to Tampa Bay from the Courtney Campbell Bridge to the north and the Skyway Bridge to the south. The boats are also prohibited from traveling into restricted areas (i.e. MacDill AFB) or nature preserves. Ft Desoto is beyond the Skyway and Caladesi is in the Gulf of Mexico.

Q:

The Groupon states one per person. If I buy one and someone else comes with me do they have to pay an additional $99?

Cindi G.  asked on  Oct 3, 2012

A:

The fine print means that you are limited to purchasing just one Groupon. Each Groupon purchased entitles you to 1 boat rental with up to 5 people in your party. The number of people in your party will determine the boat(s) available at the time of your reservation, as not all of the boats seat 5 people. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have more questions.

That's a 22' Boston Whaler - it's currently out of the water and unavailable. At the time you make your reservation, if it's available, you can upgrade to that boat for $75.
