American Sign Language 4 Week Online Course for Beginners (Registration for 1 person)
No previous knowledge of American Sign Language is required. This class introduces basic grammar, vocabulary, fingerspelling (ASL Alphabet), numbers, the history of ASL, Deaf Culture, and much more. Vocabulary signs will focus on family signs, color signs, food signs, emergency signs, simple conversational phrases, and much more, through hands-on online activities, games, small group activities, guest speakers, and lectures. The instructor is live with you to answer your questions. This class meets 1x a week for 4 weeks and utilizes Zoom and Google Classroom.
American Sign Language 4 Week Online Intermediate Course (Registration for 1 person) Previous Basic Knowledge Required
The intermediate Level 2 class, builds on the basic knowledge covered in level 1, with more in-depth study of grammatical structure, syntax, handshapes, and classifiers of ASL. It is required that students have already taken the Beginner ASL class before enrolling in the intermediate Level 2 class, or discuss placement with the instructor. Upon purchasing this option the instructor will discuss which intermediate class would be the best option for you to enroll in. This class meets 1x a week for 4 weeks and utilizes Zoom and Google Classroom.

About the Instructor: Angela Ashworth
Angela graduated from the University of Florida with her B.A. in Communication Sciences & Disorders (Speech Language Pathology & Audiology). While at UF, Angela was a member of the Signing Gators Club and volunteered countless hours working with deaf, hard of hearing and special needs children and adults. She also took ASL I, II, III, and IV while in college as well as several classes after graduation. Angela is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and holds a proficiency rating of Advanced Plus on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview Rating Scale (SLPI), which is a scale for rating sign language communication skills that is based on highly skilled, knowledgeable native-like signers. In 2006, Angela moved to Georgia and began working at The Georgia School for the Deaf, GSD. She worked at GSD from 2007 to 2017 and held many positions there including Accountant, Assistant to the Principal, Office Manager, Speech Language Pathologist, Speech Language Pathologist Aide, ASL Interpreter and Fund Raising Coordinator. She helped to establish the Athletic Booster Club and the Mascot program as well. She also had the unique opportunity to attend an intense ASL Immersion Course at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC., the world’s only university in which all programs and services are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students. She is an active volunteer at local schools, daycare centers, senior centers and community theaters, teaching ASL and deaf awareness and acceptance, as well as signs, to incorporate into theatrical performances to students, teacher. and members of the community. For the past 15 years, Angela has offered private tutoring to deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals in both English and ASL in West Georgia.
